QUETTA: A major medical campaign has been launched to screen prisoners and jail staff across Balochistan for over 30 different diseases.
The initiative started with an inspection of a screening camp set up at Quetta’s Central Jail. A health department delegation visited the camp, led by Additional Secretary Health Saqib Kakar.
Officials explained that the screening will check for diseases including TB, hepatitis, HIV/AIDS, and mental illnesses. The campaign is being conducted with the support of the DOPASi Foundation and uses modern technology.
Balochistan’s Health Minister, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, will officially inaugurate the province-wide campaign on Monday, September 15th. After the launch, regular medical screenings will be conducted in all jails across Balochistan.
