QUETTA: The Election Commission has issued the schedule for the local body election on general seats in the Union Councils of Quetta Tehsil, Balochistan.
According to the schedule, polling for the urban general seats of the Union Councils will be held on December 28.
Returning officers will issue public notices for the submission of nomination papers on November 11. Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers to the returning officers from November 13 to 17.
A list of all candidates who submit nomination papers will be released on November 18, while the scrutiny of the submitted papers will take place from November 19 to 24. Appeals against the rejection of nomination papers by the returning officers can be filed until November 28.
The Election Tribunal will announce decisions on appeals on December 3, followed by the publication of revised lists on December 4.
The last date for candidates to withdraw their nomination papers is December 5, after which the final list of candidates will be released.
On December 6, the Election Commission will allot election symbols to the candidates.
Polling for all general seats in the Union Councils will be held on December 28, and the results will be officially announced on December 31.
It is worth mentioning that the Balochistan High Court had rejected the objection on the conduction of the local body election in Quetta.
The petition against the local body election were filed in the Balochistan High Court against the conduction of the local body election amid the consensus of 2017 and the constituencies of 2020.
However , the court had remarked that there is no verifiable evidence that that the right to vote is denied by anyone.
The court had ordered the Election Commission of Pakisan to make immediate arrangements to conduct the election. The Election Commission of Pakistan has now announced the schedule.
