Light snowfall draws tourists to Murree, traffic remains

MURREE: Light snowfall transformed Murree into a picturesque winter destination, as popular areas including Mall Road, Kashmir Point, and Batrasi were covered with a fresh white layer of snow.

The pleasant weather attracted a large number of tourists, many of whom were seen enjoying the snowfall and engaging in snowball fights, adding to the lively atmosphere of the hill station.

In this regard, traffic flow in Murree remained smooth and fully operational throughout the day. The Murree Police, under the direct supervision of the District Police Officer (DPO) Murree, implemented strict traffic management measures to ensure public safety and convenience.

All entry and exit routes to the city were closely monitored, and no major congestion or disruption was reported.

In this sense, 12,777 vehicles entered Murree on January 5, while 8,569 vehicles exited the city the same day. Over the past 24 hours, a total of 23,114 vehicles entered Murree, whereas 15,143 vehicles left the hill station. At present, approximately 7,971 vehicles remain within the city limits, reflecting a steady but controlled influx of tourists.

So far, police officials stated that all checkpoints across Murree remained fully active during the snowfall.

Meanwhile, law enforcement personnel were deployed at key locations to regulate traffic, guide visitors, and provide timely assistance where needed. Tourists were also advised to follow safety guidelines, drive cautiously, and cooperate with authorities to ensure a safe and enjoyable visit.

The DPO Murree focused on that the safety and facilitation of tourists remain the top priority of the district administration. He noted that proactive planning and continuous monitoring helped prevent accidents and emergencies during the snowfall.

“Due to effective coordination and the dedication of police personnel, no untoward incident was reported,” the DPO said.

The light snowfall not only increased Murree’s natural beauty but also highlighted the effectiveness of coordinated efforts by law enforcement agencies to manage increased tourist activity without compromising safety or accessibility.
