BANNU: A Pakistan Army Lieutenant Colonel was martyred in a suicide attack during in operation in Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Saturday.
As per initial reports, security forces launched an operation in Sara Darga after receiving intelligence about the presence of Fitna al Khawarij militants.
During the operation, a suicide attacker drove a motorcycle into a convoy’s lead military vehicle. Lieutenant Colonel Sahibzada Gul Faraz was martyred in the blast as a result.
Immediately after the explosion, a large contingent of security personnel arrived at the scene to secure the area.
The area was cordoned off, and a search operation was launched to locate remaining militants.
Officials confirmed that at least five militants were killed during the ongoing operation.
Security forces continue to conduct clearance and search operations in the area.
