QUETTA: Mir Liaquat Lehri, the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader and Parliamentary Secretary for Transport, has assured government employees that the provincial government will fully support their legitimate demands, including the Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA).
Speaking at the oath-taking ceremony for the new cabinet of the All Pakistan Clerks Association (APCA) in Quetta, Mr Lehri stated that the constitution and manifesto of the PPP are the government’s “red line.” He emphasised that the party has a history of taking practical steps to provide employment and resolve long-standing public issues.
“I feel ashamed because of the lack of an immediate solution to these problems,” Mr Lehri told the gathering, acknowledging the delays. He pledged to play a key role in ensuring the employees’ demands—which also include a housing scheme and paramedic issues—are presented to the Chief Minister and relevant authorities for a swift resolution.
He committed to resolving the DRA issue “amicably” in collaboration with the APCA leadership and reiterated that providing for the people’s welfare is the PPP’s top priority, as directed by President Asif Ali Zardari.
The event was also attended by APCA Balochistan President Haji Ali Asghar Bangulzai and other dignitaries.
