BNP Condemns Government's Decision to Merge Levies with Police

PANJGUR: Members of the Levies Force held a protest rally in Panjgur on Saturday, strongly opposing the government’s decision to merge the force with the provincial police.

The protesters marched from the Levies Headquarters to a main city chowk, carrying placards and chanting slogans against the merger. Addressing the rally, senior Levies officials, including Risaldar Major Sabir Ali Gichki, called the decision “unconstitutional” and without legal justification.

The speakers argued that the merger has created uncertainty and jeopardized the future of Levies personnel, particularly new recruits whose career paths are now unclear. They defended the force’s historical legacy, stating that their sacrifices for security in the province were being undermined.

The protesters vowed to use all legal avenues to challenge the merger, asserting that the move goes against the will of the people of Balochistan, who they say are satisfied with the Levies’ performance. They urged the government to reverse its decision and restore the Levies Force.

In a related development unidentified gunmen killed a Levies constable and severely injured another in the Talli Matt area of Dera Bugti district .

According to Levies officials, the attack claimed the life of Constable Muhammad Hussain Marri and left Jameel Sheikh with serious injuries.

Following the assault, Levies and other security agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the attackers.

An investigation into the motive behind the shooting is currently underway.

In a separate incident a horrible accident took place in Dera Bugti causing deaths of three persons.

According to the details, a horrific and deadly accident took place on the Sui to Dera Bugti Road causing the demise of three people including women and children.

A tractor-trolly was overturned while taking a turn on the Jin Morh area.

The tractor-trolly was loaded with a large group of people the Bugti tribe.
