Lasbela Canal repaired, water supply restored to Hub and Gadani

Water level at Hub dam rises to 338 feet after heavy rain

HUB: A major water crisis caused by heavy rains has been resolved after a week of intensive repair work.

Torrential rains last week severely damaged the Lasbela Canal, causing cracks in 17 different places. This breach cut off water supply to Hub city, its Industrial Zone, and the area of Gadani. The outage created significant hardship for residents and disrupted industrial and commercial activities.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Bugti took immediate notice of the crisis and ordered emergency measures. Provincial Ministers Mir Sadiq Imrani (Irrigation) and Mir Ali Hassan Zehri (Agriculture) oversaw the situation on the ground.

Teams from the Irrigation Department and the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA), led by DG PDMA Jahanzeb Khan, worked day and night despite difficult weather. After a week of non-stop effort on a “war footing,” they successfully repaired all the breaches.

Water supply has now been fully restored to all affected areas, bringing great relief to citizens and business owners. The district administration has deployed special teams to continuously monitor the canal to prevent any future emergencies.
