Large drug haul seized from Balochistan and other areas

QUETTA: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) conducted multiple operations across various cities including , Quetta, Balida Cross, Multan, Kuchlak, ,Lahore ,Islamabad, and Rawalpindi, recovering a total of 860 kilograms of drugs and arresting 15 individuals.

According to an ANF spokesperson, the recovered drugs included 608.6 kg of hashish, 201.475 kg of crystal meth (ice), 49 kg of opium, and 700 grams of weed.

One of the arrested suspects confessed to supplying drugs to students. Cases have been registered under the Anti-Narcotics Act against all suspects.

Over the past ten years, Balochistan has emerged as a critical region in Pakistan’s anti-narcotics efforts due to its geographical proximity to major drug-producing areas.

The province, with its vast and porous borders with Afghanistan and Iran, has frequently been used as a transit route for narcotics trafficking.

The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and other law enforcement agencies have carried out numerous successful operations, seizing thousands of kilograms of heroin, hashish, opium, and crystal meth. Key hotspots like Chagai, Panjgur, Gwadar, and Makran Coast have witnessed recurring busts.

Despite challenges like rugged terrain and limited resources, authorities continue to intensify surveillance and interdiction efforts, often in collaboration with international agencies, to curb the flow of drugs through the region.
