QUETTA: In a significant step towards modernizing education in Balochistan, Provincial Education Minister Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani has declared it imperative to align teachers and students with the demands of the contemporary, technology-driven world. She emphasized that keeping pace with global advancements is impossible without a strong foundation in information technology and artificial intelligence.
The minister made these remarks during a ceremony held at the Government Postgraduate Girls College Quetta Cantt, where a total of 300 laptops were distributed. The initiative, which saw 200 teachers and 100 female students receive the devices, is aimed at bridging the digital divide and enhancing digital literacy. Minister Durrani stated that the youth of Balochistan possess immense, God-given potential, and it is the government’s responsibility to provide them with the tools to harness it.
Highlighting the rapidly changing educational landscape, she asserted that the province must adapt to these shifts. She thanked the Chief Minister for his consistent support in fulfilling promises towards educational development and confirmed that efforts are underway to gradually equip all educational institutions with modern technology. This, she explained, is crucial to prepare students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern era.
Addressing the female students directly, Minister Durrani urged them to focus entirely on their education while keeping the spirit of patriotism alive in their hearts. She underscored the growing importance of higher qualifications, stating that essential Phil and PhD degrees are now mandatory for future success. The ceremony concluded with a reinforced commitment to ensuring the use of modern technology in classrooms, signaling a proactive move towards a more digitally empowered Balochistan.
In a separate move towards modernizing law enforcement, the Balochistan Police and the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to foster cooperation in the field of modern technology. The signing ceremony was held under the chairmanship of Balochistan Inspector General of Police (IGP), Muhammad Tahir.
