KOHAT/KARACHI: Six people lost their lives after being buried under debris when a landslide struck a hilly area near Gambat tehsil in Kohat.
According to Rescue 1122, emergency teams reached the scene immediately after receiving the alert and began rescue operations.
Heavy machinery was used to clear the rubble and recover those trapped beneath it.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson Bilal Ahmed Faizi confirmed that the bodies of six victims have been retrieved so far.
Rescue officials stated that one injured person was provided medical treatment at the site, while another individual remains missing under the debris.
Search and rescue efforts are still underway to locate the missing person.
The deceased have been identified as Talat son of Wakeel, FC personnel Fayyaz son of Riaz, Abid son of Parvez, Daniyal son of Zafar Ali, Sabir son of Iqbal, and Faraz son of Farzand Ali.
Riaz Ali Khan, also known as Good, son of Aitbar Khan, sustained injuries, while Faizan son of Haji Rehman is still trapped under the debris, and efforts to recover him continue.
Meanwhile , Eight people were feared drowned after a boat capsized near Keti Bandar while they were out hunting.
According to media report, the tragic incident occurred off the coast of Keti Bandar when the boat overturned, causing its occupants to fall into the sea.
The individuals had traveled from Karachi to hunt birds in the coastal area.
As soon as the incident was reported, local fishermen rushed to the scene and managed to rescue six people alive.
However, two individuals initially remained missing.
Preliminary reports suggested that rough sea conditions and strong waves caused the boat to lose control and capsize.
A search operation was immediately launched to locate the missing persons.
Officials of the Maritime Security Agency stated that a search and rescue operation is ongoing at the site of the accident.
During the operation, six passengers were rescued, while the body of one victim, identified as Zaheer Ahmed, was recovered.
The search continues for another missing person, Wahid Bakhsh.
Authorities confirmed that five of the victims belonged to Karachi, while three were residents of Keti Bandar.
The submerged boat has also been recovered.
The incident is believed to have occurred due to strong winds, and the victims were reportedly engaged in recreational hunting of birds and fish at the time of the accident.
