Woman Shot in Leg During Family Dispute in Karachi's Landhi

KARACHI: A domestic dispute turned violent in Karachi’s Landhi area on Wednesday, resulting in a woman being shot and injured by her sister-in-law. The incident occurred at a residence in Landhi No. 6, Sector 36C, Sherabad Street No. 1.

According to Station House Officer (SHO) Awami Colony Aamir Malik, the altercation involved family members. Preliminary police reports indicate that during the argument, a woman identified as Mazrooba allegedly fired a pistol. The bullet struck her sister-in-law, 30-year-old Afshan, in the leg.

Following the shooting, the accused, Mazrooba, fled the scene. Police and rescue services were promptly alerted. The injured Afshan was transported to Jinnah Hospital for urgent medical treatment, where her condition is reported to be stable.

Law enforcement officials swiftly responded to the incident. While the primary suspect remains at large, police have detained Afshan’s husband, who is also Mazrooba’s brother, for questioning. Investigators have also seized the firearm used in the shooting. SHO Aamir Malik confirmed that the weapon is licensed. Police teams are conducting raids in the area to apprehend the fleeing accused, expressing confidence that she will be arrested soon.

An investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the dispute that led to the violent outcome. Such incidents highlight the dangers of escalating domestic conflicts and the severe consequences of readily available firearms within households.
