Lahore administration continues digital registration of kite makers and sellers

LAHORE: The digital registration process for kite manufacturers, sellers, traders, and related associations in Lahore is continuing through the e-Biz application, as part of the district administration’s efforts to regulate kite-related activities and ensure compliance with safety standards ahead of the upcoming kite-flying season.

In this regard, a total of 530 applications have been received from kite sellers so far. Of these, 340 applications have been approved, while the scrutiny process is ongoing for 161 applications. The authorities reported receiving 328 applications from kite manufacturers.

In this sense, among them, 218 have been approved, while 90 applications are still under review.

Similarly, traders submitted 124 applications for registration. The administration has approved 87 of these, rejected seven, and placed 30 applications under inspection as part of the verification process.

The Kite Flying Association has also participated in the digital registration initiative. The district administration focused on that the digital registration initiative is aimed at improving transparency, increasing accountability, and preventing the illegal production and sale of kites and hazardous strings.

Furthermore, the sale of kites and kite strings will be permitted from February 1. However, kite flying itself will only be allowed on officially designated dates, from February 6 to February 8, 2026.

In such a case, the authorities have reasserted that strict action will be taken against anyone found violating the approved SOPs, registration conditions, or designated timelines. This includes unregistered manufacturing, illegal sales, or kite flying beyond the permitted dates.

The administration urged all stakeholders, including manufacturers, sellers, traders, and kite-flying enthusiasts, to cooperate with authorities and comply fully with the regulations to ensure a safe and orderly kite-flying season.
