KP introduces Computerized Land Record System, bringing transparency to property management

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunwa government, led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has introduced a Computerized Land Record Management Information System (CLRMIS) to modernize land administration and improve public service delivery across the province.

In this regard, the initiative has been implemented under the leadership of Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, in line with the vision of former Prime Minister Imran Khan. The system aims to ensure transparency, efficiency, and ease of access for citizens seeking land ownership documents.

The residents can now obtain their Fard-e-Intiqal (ownership record) from any service delivery center in the province, regardless of where their property is located. This indicates a major departure from the earlier system, where citizens were required to visit specific local offices, often facing delays and administrative hurdles.

In such a case, the significant progress has already been achieved since the system’s rollout. More than six million pages of land records have been scanned, while ownership data of approximately 28 million individuals has been digitized.

In addition, 62 service centers have been connected to a centralized network, effectively eliminating outdated data silos that previously hindered coordination and accuracy.

Moreover, under the CLRMIS, 29,421 ownership records have been issued, 8,356 land mutations have been completed, and out of 3,561 revenue villages, 3,275 have already become operational under the digital system.

The integration of online payment facilities and biometric verification has further enhanced the speed, security, and transparency of the process. The government says the reforms are designed to reduce corruption, prevent record tampering, and build public trust in land administration.
