PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has announced the release of Rs3 billion to support ongoing relief and rescue operations following the devastation caused by torrential rains and flash floods across the province.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has also departed for the affected areas to personally review the situation and meet with flood-hit families. The CM began his visit from Dera Ismail Khan and will be briefed on relief efforts while directly listening to the grievances of displaced and affected families.
Furthermore, Gandapur presided a high-level meeting in Peshawar attended by the Chief Secretary, administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, deputy commissioners, and senior officials of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA).
Moreover, the authorities have mentioned that at least 309 people have lost their lives, 23 others have been injured in rain-related incidents, including a tragic helicopter crash.
In this regard, the medical teams, medicines, and essential food supplies are being dispatched to the affected areas.
The provincial government has allocated Rs1.5 billion to the PDMA for relief and rehabilitation, while another Rs1.5 billion has been provided to the Communications and Works Department to restore damaged roads, bridges, and highways.

Additionally, CM Gandapur directed officials to ensure that compensation payments are completed within two days and that no disruption occurs in the supply of food to the affected communities.
