Sindh Minister Slams PTI Ahead of KP Chief Minister Visit to Karachi

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will be warmly welcomed whenever he visits Sindh. He said the provincial government will provide full security and official protocol in line with Sindh’s traditions.

Memon said the people of Sindh prioritise hospitality above politics. He said guests are respected regardless of political differences. He added that leaders and chief ministers from PTI, PML-N, and other political parties will also receive a welcome in Sindh.

However, Memon strongly criticized PTI’s politics and governance. He said PTI released Taliban and terrorist elements from prisons during its time in power. He said the Pakistan Peoples Party has serious concerns over those decisions.

Memon said PTI leadership promoted abuse and hate instead of positive political behavior. He also objected to what he called propaganda against national institutions. He said the rise in terrorist incidents in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is alarming and raises questions about past policies.

Speaking on media welfare, Memon said the Sindh government is taking concrete steps for journalists. He said many journalists have given 30 to 40 years to the media industry and deserve a secure future.

He said the government is preparing a Media Future Protection Plan. He said Sindh aims to implement the plan across Pakistan. He added that where the Peoples Party is not in power, the government will work with local administrations.

Memon also highlighted support for the entertainment and film industry. He said an India-produced film has been completed and its trailer will be released soon. He said the film portrays the real story of Lyari, its social landscape, and the impact of terrorism. He said it reflects Pakistan’s ground realities and projects soft images.

He said the Sindh government is providing funds and facilities to the film, drama, and entertainment sectors. He said these initiatives are creating new employment opportunities.

On healthcare, Memon said Sindh provides 99 percent of medical treatment free of cost. He said patients from Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Balochistan also receive free treatment at Sindh’s public hospitals.

He said the Peoples Party has prioritized health since 2008. He said free healthcare remains a core policy of the Sindh government.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi will visit Karachi this Friday to meet the party’s provincial leadership and workers. The visit is part of ongoing preparations for a street movement seeking the release of the party’s incarcerated founding chairman, Imran Khan.
