GHAZIABAD, INDIA: In a heartbreaking incident, three sisters took their own lives by jumping from the ninth floor of their apartment building after being prohibited from playing an addictive online Korean game, according to Indian media reports.
The victims were identified as 12-year-old Pakhi, 14-year-old Prachi, and 16-year-old Vishika, who were reportedly obsessed with the game to the extent that they had abandoned school two years earlier and even adopted Korean names for themselves.
Their parents imposed a strict ban on gaming due to their extreme addiction.
Late at night, the sisters leaped from their ninth-floor apartment.
The parents, alerted by the sound of their fall, rushed to the room and found it wide open, realizing the devastating act had occurred.
During the police investigation, officers discovered a diary in the girls’ room containing a note detailing their gaming and mobile activities.
The note read: “Read everything written in this diary because it’s all true.” It continued: “Papa, sorry.
Korea is our life, Korea is our greatest love. No matter what you say, we can’t leave it.”
Visibly distraught, the father broke down, saying: “This should never happen to any parent or child. Parents should not allow their kids to play such games.
I wasn’t aware of this game; otherwise, I would never have let them play it.”
The case has sparked widespread concern over the dangers of online gaming addiction among youth, with authorities urging parents to monitor children’s screen time closely. (As of February 4, 2026, Rawalpindi)
