ISLAMABAD: The security forces thwarted an attempted penetration by Khwarij Tashkeel, near the border. The operation resulted in the killing of at least 13 militants, including three suicide bombers and five Pakistani soldiers embraced martyrdom in the line of duty.
Furthermore, the incident occurred when a group of heavily armed militants attempted to enter Pakistani territory through a densely vegetated area along the border. In this regard, security forces detected the movement and swiftly engaged the infiltrators in a fierce exchange of fire.
In addition, three suicide bombers detonated their explosives after being hit by security fire, causing multiple explosions that killed or injured several of their own group members.
Moreover, 13 bodies of the Khwarij fighters have been recovered so far and search operations are continuing in the surrounding areas to clear any remaining threats.
So far, the officials from the military briefed the operation as a “precise and timely response” that prevented a major terrorist incident inside Pakistan.
“The attempt to breach the border was effectively neutralized. The attackers were lured into engagement and decisively eliminated,” one official said, adding that the militants had likely planned to carry out high-impact attacks within Pakistan.
The engagement came at a heavy cost. Additionally, five soldiers were martyred defending the nation, and one soldier sustained minor injuries.
The martyred personnel were hailed for their bravery and commitment to duty, with tributes pouring in from across the country.
The area remains under strict surveillance as security forces continue to sweep the region to ensure no remaining threats persist.
