Key BLA terrorist arrested in joint rangers and CTD operation

KARACHI: Joint operation conducted by Sindh Rangers and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has resulted in the arrest of a wanted terrorist associated with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and later the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF). The individual, identified as Akhtar alias “Akko” alias “Bengali,” was arrested from the Lyari area of Karachi.

According to official sources, the arrested suspect has confessed to his direct involvement in the targeted killings of two Baloch journalists, Shahid Zehri and Akram Sajidi. 

The accused admitted to conducting surveillance of the journalists before their assassinations, as part of a larger plot facilitated by anti-state elements.

Furthermore, this arrest marks a critical victory in the ongoing efforts of Pakistan’s law enforcement agencies to dismantle terror networks operating under the guise of political or separatist causes.

Moreover, security officials have confirmed that further interrogation is underway, and more important disclosures are expected from the suspect regarding the operational structure, funding sources, and other members of these banned outfits.

In addition, law enforcement officials have stressed their firm resolve to pursue and neutralize all elements working against the peace and sovereignty of Pakistan.
