QUETTA: A key leader of the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) was killed in Pakistan’s security forces operation conducted in Kandahar city of Afghanistan on Thursday, security sources say.
According to security sources, BLA’s Majeed Brigade key commander, Naeem alias Doctor, was a close relative of militant leader Mahrang Baloch, highlighting his influence within the group.
Officials said Naeem was specifically targeted, and his death represents a major setback for the banned organization.
Local residents reported fear and uncertainty following the operation, noting that Naeem had been involved in planning several high-profile attacks in the area.
The BLA has not issued an official response, but analysts said his killing could temporarily disrupt the group’s operations.
Security sources said the operation demonstrates the forces’ ability to neutralize high-value targets, marking a key milestone for stabilizing security in the region.
