Kech Cultural Festival opens with celebration of Baloch heritage

TURBAT: The Kech Cultural Festival opened with a ribbon-cutting ceremony performed by renowned scientist Professor Perevz Hoodbhoy.

The inaugural event drew prominent political, social, and literary figures from across the province. Former Balochistan Chief Minister Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch attended the ceremony as a special guest, while Provincial Minister Mir Zahoor Ahmed Buledi described the festival as a true reflection of the region’s rich culture.

Provincial Adviser for Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed and Adviser Haji Barkat Rind also participated, alongside senior officials including Asghar Rind, provincial secretaries, and the Commissioner of Makran.

Following the opening, ministers and guests toured the festival stalls, where displays of traditional Baloch crafts, handicrafts, and cultural items received wide appreciation. Students’ creative projects also earned high praise from the visitors.

Teachers and students from schools and colleges took part enthusiastically, showcasing the province’s cultural heritage. Minister Buledi and Adviser Meena Majeed commended the skills of Baloch women artisans and lauded the exhibitions of traditional crafts.

Guests paid tribute to the hard work of teachers and students, calling their contributions an inspiration.

The festival also featured local music, cultural performances, and traditional games, adding vibrancy to the event. Participants said the festival not only highlights Baloch culture but also projects a positive image of Makran to the wider world.
