KARACHI: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Sindh Police, in coordination with federal intelligence agencies, arrested five suspected terrorists associated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
The detained militants were allegedly planning large-scale terrorist attacks in the city. The arrested individuals have been identified as TTP operatives Allah Noor and Sarfaraz, and AQIS members Saleem, Jahanzeb, and Imdadullah.
Furthermore, CTD spokesperson said the arrests were made after weeks of surveillance and intelligence gathering.
In this regard, security personnel also recovered a cache of weapons and ammunition from the suspects’ possession. The seized material included automatic firearms, pistols, explosive devices, and communication equipment.
So far, preliminary investigations suggest that the militants had received training abroad and were in direct contact with their networks outside Pakistan.
In this sense, the spokesperson further highlighted that the successful operation was the result of close coordination between the CTD, intelligence agencies, and federal security institutions.
Moreover, The suspects have been shifted to an undisclosed location for interrogation.

Karachi has witnessed several counter-terrorism operations in recent years, as law enforcement agencies step up efforts to prevent militant groups from regrouping.
