Kakar: Balochistan government is promoting renewable energy

QUETTA: Balochistan Board of Investment Vice Chairman Bilal Khan Kakar has expressed the Balochistan government’s firm commitment to promoting renewable energy, adding that government strongly invite the private sector to invest in LPG terminals and renewable energy projects to meet the energy needs of the province in a sustainable manner.

Bilal Khan Kakar was called on in his office by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) member Zainul Abideen Qureshi and All Pakistan LPG Association Chairman Irfan Khokhar.

On this occasion, the problems faced by the oil and gas sector in Balochistan and their possible solutions were considered and detailed discussions were held on the LPG sector, energy infrastructure and investment opportunities. The participants emphasized the need to promote private sector involvement and public-private partnership in Balochistan so that sustainable energy can be achieved in the province.

Bilal Khan Kakar said that there are numerous opportunities for hydel and solar energy in Balochistan, which require policy reforms and investment incentives to be utilized.

OGRA and All Pakistan LPG Association also assured cooperation to promote the energy sector in Balochistan. The parties agreed to continue their contacts and collaboration in the future.
