JUI-F Balochistan urges govt to heed employees’ demands

QUETTA: Senior leaders of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan have issued a stark warning, calling for immediate and serious measures to resolve the legitimate demands of protesting government employees, as work remains paralyzed across provincial offices.

In a joint statement, JUI-B Balochistan Ameer Senator Maulana Abdul Wasi and General Secretary Maulana Agha Mahmood Shah stated that “serious, purposeful and far-sighted measures have become the need of the hour.” They emphasized that resolving the employees’ grievances is crucial for restoring smooth government operations and preventing unnecessary public hardship.

The leaders highlighted the severe economic pressure and mental anguish faced by employees amid limited incomes and high inflation, stating it is the government’s “primary responsibility” to address this. They expressed regret over the dual suffering: employees forced onto the streets for their rights, and ordinary citizens enduring anxiety due to suspended public services. “This situation is not at all appropriate,” they stated.

Rejecting confrontation, the JUI-B leaders advocated for “meaningful dialogue, mutual respect and serious consultation” as the path to a solution. They reaffirmed the party’s historical support for the legitimate rights of the working class, pledging to continue providing “full moral, constitutional and democratic support” and to highlight the employees’ demands at all relevant forums.

In a final appeal, they strongly urged the provincial government to “understand the sensitivity of the matter” and take immediate, lasting steps to solve the crisis. The goal, they said, must be to restore the government system, provide public relief, and establish an “atmosphere of harmony and trust” in Balochistan.
