JI’s Long March set to begin today from Hockey Ground Chowk, Quetta

QUETTA: Leader of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and member of the Balochistan Assembly, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, has said that the Long March for the rights of the Balochistan people, is all set to depart from Hockey Ground Chowk, Quetta, today (Friday) at 10:00 am.

While speaking to the media in Quetta, JI leader said that the long march will follow an eight-point agenda. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman highlighted that the closure of the border from Chaman to Gwadar is unacceptable and has made the lives of millions of people difficult. He demanded that trawler operations under government patronage must end, and that political freedom, peace on highways, and justice for Balochistan must be ensured.

He said that we are not going to Islamabad for our personal interests, but to raise the voice of the troubled people of Balochistan, adding that we will present our sorrow and pain before the rulers.

He announced that all the preparations for the march have been completed, and a large convoy is set to depart from Hockey Ground Chowk, Quetta, on Friday at 10:00 am. Supporters and workers from various parts of the province have already started arriving in Quetta to join the protest.

The long march, led by Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman, will travel from Quetta to Islamabad, where the central leadership of Jamaat-e-Islami will also join the demonstration.
