QUETTA: The authorities in Balochistan have reasserted the concerns that elements allegedly working on behalf of hostile foreign agencies are operating under the guise of academics, intellectuals, and activists to spread extremist narratives within society.
In this sense, by referring to the recent arrest of Dr. Usman Qazi, who was accused of having links with the banned Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its Majeed Brigade, officials described the development as a stark reminder of how terrorism has sought to penetrate educational and social institutions.
The authorities pointed out that attempts on social media to portray Qazi as a victim were part of an ongoing “narrative war” against Pakistan.
They added that the state has historically shown leniency and patience toward those misguided by extremist elements, it is now necessary to adopt a balanced approach displaying compassion where needed, but acting with an iron hand where firm measures are required.
The statement further stressed that those who attempt to defend or glorify terrorists on social media are equally complicit and must also be held accountable.
He is paying tribute to the security forces for foiling what could have been a devastating attack in Balochistan, the provincial leadership expressed gratitude for their sacrifices and vigilance.

The arrest of the alleged BLA commander, they noted, was a major success that prevented large-scale destruction in the province.
