ISLAMABAD: A Jaffar Express train was slightly damaged after an explosion occurred on a railway track in Sindh’s Shikarpur area on Monday.
The train Jaffar Express was en route to Quetta from Rawalpindi when the blast occurred near Shikarpur.
The explosion slightly damaged the train. The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Local authorities say the explosion, caused by an improvised explosive device planted near the tracks, partially damaged the three bogies of the train, causing the suspension of railway traffic.
The rescue teams were deployed to the site. However, fortunately, no casualties were reported in the accident.
The railway authorities started rehabilitation work on the main track.
Last week, the Quetta-bound Bolan Mail was attacked by the Indian proxy Fitna al Hindustan in the Domboli area of Balochistan, suspending the train service for a day.
Balochistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks in recent years, with militants frequently targeting railway tracks and other transport infrastructure in the province.
