QUETTA: A powerful explosion struck a railway track as the Jaffer Express passed through Sibi, Balochistan, while en route from Punjab to Quetta. The train narrowly avoided damage, and no casualties were reported.
Earlier this week, terrorists attacked the pilot engine of the Jaffer Express near the Kolpur area in Bolan district. Railway authorities confirmed the incident on Monday. The engine, carrying a driver and an assistant driver, came under fire while moving through the region. Fortunately, both crew members remained unharmed, and the engine sustained no damage.
On the same day, another explosion hit the Jaffer Express near Shikarpur, Sindh, as the train traveled from Rawalpindi to Quetta. The blast slightly damaged the train. The Baloch Republican Guards (BRG) claimed responsibility for the attack.
Local authorities reported that an improvised explosive device planted near the tracks caused the explosion, which partially damaged three bogies and disrupted railway traffic. Rescue teams quickly reached the site. Fortunately, no casualties occurred, and railway authorities launched rehabilitation work on the main track.
Last month, the Quetta-bound Bolan Mail came under attack in the Domboli area of Balochistan. The Indian proxy group Fitna al Hindustan claimed responsibility for the assault, which halted train services for a day.
