Beijing: Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, addressing the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Defence Ministers’ Meeting, emphasized that terrorism is a shared threat to the entire world and should not be used for political purposes.
Khawaja Asif participated in the SCO defence ministers’ meeting and also held bilateral meetings with the defence ministers of Tajikistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, and China.
During these interactions, he strongly condemned Israel’s illegal and unprovoked attacks on Iran and expressed deep concern over the humanitarian crisis and brutality in Gaza. He urged an immediate and permanent ceasefire and demanded an end to the attacks on Palestinian civilians.
In the main session, he reiterated that terrorism is a collective threat requiring a united response, and all countries must avoid politicizing anti-terror efforts.
He declared Pakistan’s firm condemnation of all forms of terrorism and called for bringing the planners, financiers, and facilitators of the Jaffar Express attacks to justice.
Khawaja Asif also highlighted that unresolved issues like Kashmir and Palestine pose serious threats to global peace.
He called for peaceful resolutions through dialogue, mediation, and diplomacy, urging the international community to ensure lasting solutions to these long-standing conflicts.
He informed participants that Pakistan plays an active role in SCO, contributing significantly to regional stability and cooperation.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to the UN Charter, the SCO framework, and international laws.

Emphasizing the importance of peace in Afghanistan, he stated that a peaceful and stable Afghanistan is vital for regional prosperity and aligns with the SCO’s vision.
