ISLAMABAD: Renowned defense analyst Abdullah Khan has stated that Israel is attempting to encircle Iran and, as part of this strategy, is activating terrorist groups in Pakistan’s Balochistan region.
He pointed out that the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI) was founded by former Israeli military commandos and that its clear objective is to use Pakistani Balochistan as a strategic front to pressure Iran from both sides.
As a result, Iran could face attacks from militant groups operating in Pakistani Balochistan on one side and direct Israeli pressure on the other.
He emphasized that intelligence warfare is a particularly dirty game. Previously, groups like the BLA (Balochistan Liberation Army) and BLF (Balochistan Liberation Front) were in conflict with each other, accusing one another of fleeing battles. However, global powers are now making efforts to unite these factions.
Abdullah Khan also warned that an Iran-Israel war poses serious risks for Pakistan. Israel does not view Iran alone as a threat; it also considers Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal a significant danger.
This is why Israel is seeking access to Balochistan. He stressed the need for Pakistan to remain vigilant, especially since India is closely monitoring the situation and enjoys a strong strategic relationship with Israel.
He further explained that although India maintains covert ties with both Iranian and Israeli intelligence agencies, Iran’s stance regarding the terrorist groups operating from Balochistan appears to be shifting.
Iran is likely considering action against these groups, as they are becoming a direct threat to its security—something Pakistan would also support. However, there’s a strong concern that these terrorist groups may seek alignment with Israel.
Abdullah Khan reminded that Israel had previously supported India in its hostile activities against Pakistan, and now, during the current conflict with Israel, India is likely offering covert support, even if not openly acknowledged.

He cited the example of Iranian security forces recently arresting several spies, many of whom were Indian nationals. Therefore, any joint operations by Iran and Pakistan against these terrorist organizations could provoke a response in the form of increased Israeli and Indian backing for them.
