TEHRAN: The Israeli military says it launched a wave of strikes against Iranian military and nuclear sites in a major escalation against Tehran. Local media reported that Hossein Salami, the senior commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards, was killed in the Israeli strikes.
Iranian state TV also reported that two senior nuclear scientists were killed in the Israeli strikes that have plunged the wider Middle East region into dangerous new territory.
The report further says that Fereydoon Abbasi, the former head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI)-responsible for Iran’s nuclear facilities- was killed in the strike. He had survived an attempted life on a Tehran street in 2010.
The other is Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi, the president of the Islamic Azad University in Tehran.

Israel and US will pay ‘heavy price’: Iran
A spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces has strongly reacted to the Israeli attack and said that the US and Israel will pay a “heavy price” for the strikes.
“The armed forces will certainly respond to this Zionist attack,” said Iranian spokesperson Abolfazl Shekarchi.
Iran’s supreme leader says Israel will receive ‘bitter fate’
Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, says the attacks reveal Israel’s “vile nature”, Reuters reports, and that with this attack Israel, “has prepared a bitter fate for itself, which it will surely receive.”
