Financial Times Reveals How Israel Conducted Surveillance on Ayatollah Khamenei

LONDON: The Financial Times reported that Israel hacked Tehran’s traffic camera network to target Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a recent strike.

The newspaper said Israeli intelligence secretly transmitted video feeds to Tel Aviv for years. Analysts reviewed the footage to study Ayatollah Khamenei’s movements and security arrangements.

The report said cameras on Pasteur Street tracked the movement of guards and drivers. Operatives used selected cameras to map activity inside the compound and identify parking points. They deployed algorithms to analyze daily routines, parking locations and travel routes used by security personnel.

The Financial Times added that Israel and the Central Intelligence Agency had prior knowledge of Khamenei’s meeting schedules and the identities of participants.

The report claimed mobile towers were partially disabled during the strike. It said the disruption prevented security teams from receiving possible warnings.

The United States and Israel have not publicly detailed the operation. Iranian authorities have confirmed Khamenei was killed along with several associates.
