ISLAMABAD: Authorities in Pakistan’s capital have introduced a new weekly schedule for private schools and colleges, limiting on-campus classes to four days a week.
Under the revised plan, teaching activities will take place from Monday to Thursday. All private institutions will remain closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
The decision forms part of a government-led austerity drive aimed at conserving fuel and electricity.
The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority issued the new schedule and enforced it with immediate effect across Islamabad.
Officials said the move aims to reduce energy consumption by cutting the use of school transport and private vehicles.

Authorities warned that all private schools and colleges must comply with the new policy. They said violations could lead to legal action.
