LONDON: Russia has announced its support for Iran amid the ongoing tensions involving the United States and Israel, stating that Moscow does not consider itself neutral in the conflict.
Russia’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Andrei Kelin, said that Russia stands with Iran in the current confrontation with the United States and Israel. Speaking during a media interaction in London, the Russian envoy emphasized that Moscow believes the situation should be resolved through diplomatic means rather than military action.
“We support Iran in this conflict with the United States and Israel,” Ambassador Kelin said. “Russia is not neutral in this matter and stands with Iran.”
The Russian diplomat also criticized Western countries for what he described as a one-sided narrative regarding the ongoing tensions.
He stated that the current situation is being portrayed unfairly, with many Western nations focusing only on Iran’s response rather than the broader context of the conflict.
“Western countries are blaming Iran for the escalation, but no one is talking about the fact that the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran first,” he said.
In this regard, Ambassador Kelin further argued that Iran’s actions should be viewed as a response to those attacks. He stressed that the continued use of force would only worsen the situation and increase instability in the region.
He called on all parties involved to immediately halt military operations and pursue dialogue to prevent further escalation.
“The best possible outcome would be an immediate end to the war,” he added.
The Russian envoy’s stated that come at a time of heightened geopolitical tensions and growing international concern over the potential expansion of the conflict.
Meanwhile, China has also urged restraint and called for an end to attacks on Iran. Chinese officials have stated that the use of force is not a solution and focused on the need for diplomatic engagement to resolve the crisis.
