Iran signals military readiness, notes progress in US talks

Iranian president orders nuclear talks with US

TEHRAN: Iranian President Masoud Pazhaksian announced on Monday that the nation has completed its preparations for any possible scenario concerning ongoing tensions with the United States, while simultaneously noting positive developments in recent diplomatic engagements.

In a statement released on the social media platform X, President Pazhaksian reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to regional peace and stability. He revealed that “practical proposals” were on the table during the recent talks between the two nations.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is committed to peace and stability in the region,” President Pazhaksian wrote. He added that there have been “encouraging signs in recent talks between the United States and Iran,” underscoring that Tehran is “closely monitoring American actions.”

The president’s dual message—highlighting both military readiness and diplomatic openness—comes amid heightened scrutiny of the fragile relationship between Washington and Tehran. While pointing to the constructive nature of the discussions, Pazhaksian’s remarks also serve as a clear signal that Iran is prepared for a failure of diplomacy.

His comments suggest a “wait-and-see” approach from Tehran, which is looking for concrete actions from the U.S. to match the “encouraging signs” observed in the dialogue. There was no immediate reaction from U.S. officials regarding the Iranian president’s latest statement.
