TEHRAN : Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters spokesman Ebrahim Zolfaqari announced that a US plane was shot down by Iran’s new modern defense system, asserting that the downing disproves former US President Donald Trump’s claims that Washington destroyed Iran’s air defense capabilities.
In a televised address, Zolfaqari stated that the US aircraft was successfully targeted by Iran’s advanced indigenous defense system. He further claimed that a modern enemy fighter jet was also targeted south of Qeshm Island.
According to the spokesman, the fighter jet crashed into the waters between Qeshm and Hingam Islands. He did not specify whether this referred to the same aircraft or a separate incident.
Zolfaqari emphasized that the downing of the US plane serves as clear evidence that Trump’s previous statements about crippling Iran’s air defense network were false. The spokesman did not provide additional details about the type of aircraft or the exact timeline of the incident.
