TEHRAN: According to the Iranian news agency, Rear Admiral Tangsiri, while overseeing the ongoing military exercise titled “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz,” stated that any decision regarding the closure of the Strait of Hormuz rests with Iran’s Supreme Leadership.
He declared: “As a soldier, I announce that we are fully prepared to carry out this mission the moment we receive the order.”
He further noted that the weapons used in actual wartime differ from those demonstrated during military exercises.
As per the Iranian news agency report, maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was temporarily suspended for several hours on Tuesday during the “Smart Control of the Strait of Hormuz” drill.
In the second phase of the naval exercise, units of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy, including combat and rapid-response forces, participated with the objective of ensuring secure maritime passage.
Various weapons systems were employed during the exercise, and military experts observed that predetermined targets were struck with extreme precision.
High-speed missile boats of the IRGC Navy conducted live missile firings to demonstrate operational capability. Missiles launched from coastal areas and islands in the Gulf also successfully hit their targets in the Strait of Hormuz.
Drone units practiced operations involving attack and reconnaissance drones under signal-jamming conditions, accurately engaging both moving and stationary targets.
