Iran forced to defend itself after diplomacy failed: Pezeshkian

Iranian President's visit to Pakistan, scheduled for 26th July

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated that Tehran made every possible effort to engage in diplomacy through neighboring countries, friendly states, and high-ranking officials to prevent tensions from turning into war.

Speaking to media, the Iranian president said that Iran utilized all diplomatic means to avoid conflict, but the situation took such a turn that there was no other way but to defend itself. He attributed American and Israeli military aggression as the reason forcing Iran to take defensive measures.

Pezeshkian made it clear that Iran respects the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all friendly and neighboring countries and does not believe in interfering in the internal affairs of any nation.

The Iranian president emphasized that the security and stability of the region is possible not through external pressure or the use of force, but only through joint efforts, mutual respect, and cooperation of the countries of the region.

Pezeshkian reiterated his determination that Iran is serious about promoting peace, stability, and constructive dialogue, but stressed that no compromise will be made on national security and sovereignty.
