Iran Air to launch direct flights from Quetta to Zahidan

QUETTA: Iran Air is set to commence direct weekly passenger and cargo flights from Quetta to the Iranian cities of Zahidan and Mashhad. The announcement was made by Ali Reza Rajai, Iran’s acting consul general in Quetta, during a ceremony organised by the Pak-Iran Joint Chamber of Commerce on Saturday.

The new air route is aimed at increasing trade and travel links between the two neighbouring countries by reducing travel time and costs, particularly for business communities on both sides.

Furthermore, the top Iranian airline officials, including Iran Air Chief Agha Karimi and Deputy Chief Agha Ismail, were also present at the event. They expressed strong support for improved air connectivity as a cornerstone for economic and diplomatic cooperation.

Rajai further mentioned the strategic importance of the new service in developing port-to-port cooperation between Pakistan’s Gwadar Port and Iran’s Chabahar Port. He focused on that closer connectivity through air and sea routes would not only benefit bilateral trade but also contribute to regional stability and prosperity.

During the ceremony, Mr. Rajai called for the removal of bureaucratic and procedural obstacles that hinder smooth cross-border business.

He stressed that both governments work towards easing visa issuance, rationalising airfare, and removing tariff-related barriers to facilitate seamless travel and trade.
