Mobile internet remains suspended in Balochistan for two weeks

QUETTA: Mobile phone internet services across Balochistan have remained suspended for two weeks, causing severe disruption to daily life. Citizens say the suspension has blocked students from attending online classes and left freelancers and online businesses struggling.

Provincial authorities confirmed that services will remain suspended until August 31 due to security concerns.

Last week, the Balochistan High Court reviewed the government’s notification on the suspension. The court directed authorities to reconsider the blanket ban and restore mobile internet in areas where no security threats exist.

Despite the directive, large parts of the province remain cut off from internet access. Students, professionals, and business owners continue to press for immediate restoration, warning that the prolonged outage is damaging education and livelihoods.
