ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the recent incidents of unprovoked firing by Afghan forces on Pakistani border areas, describing the attacks as a serious violation of international norms and human rights.
Naqvi said that the security forces responded promptly and effectively, sending a clear message that any form of provocation would not be tolerated.
He focused on the fact that the defense forces acted with professionalism and restraint while ensuring the safety of local populations.
Furthermore, Naqvi confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to maintaining peaceful and cooperative relations with its neighbors, underlining that Islamabad has consistently pursued a policy of tolerance, diplomacy, and mutual respect.
“Pakistan has always shown patience and wisdom in dealing with regional challenges,” he said. “However, if our national security or citizens come under attack, Pakistan reserves the right to respond with full force.”
Furthermore, the interior minister’s statements come amid rising tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where clashes have been reported in recent weeks.
Moreover, Naqvi also reasserted that Pakistan supports stability and peace in Afghanistan, stressing that regional harmony is vital for progress and prosperity in South Asia.
He urged the Afghan interim government to take responsible measures to prevent cross-border aggression and to honor bilateral and international commitments.
