Prime Minister PM,  Shehbaz Sharif, met with top bosses of major Chinese companies during a visit to Beijing this week. The goal was to encourage more Chinese investment in Pakistan.

The talks covered many areas where the two countries can work together, including technology, farming, mining, and building roads and digital networks.

The Prime Minister explained that his government has made new rules to help foreign businesses. These changes include making taxes lower for investors, making it easier for Chinese citizens to get visas, and setting up special help desks at Pakistani airports.

He specifically pointed to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), a new government platform designed to quickly solve problems for investors and help businesses work together.

A key part of the discussion was about building factories. The Prime Minister said that industrial cooperation is a main goal for the next phase of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). He invited Chinese companies to set up their factories in Pakistan’s Special Economic Zones (SEZs), which are areas with extra benefits for businesses.

He listed Pakistan’s advantages: a large number of skilled workers who are low-cost, cheap raw materials, and a strategic location that provides access to markets in the region and the world.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif promised the Chinese business leaders that Pakistan is committed to creating a safe and easy environment for them. He said that more Chinese investment will help Pakistan’s economy grow, create new jobs for Pakistanis, and make CPEC a true success for the entire region.
