ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has officially confirmed that Pakistan has sent a letter to India in response to New Delhi’s unilateral decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty—a move that violates the spirit and framework of the agreement.
The spokesperson emphasized that Pakistan has given a firm and comprehensive reply to all the letters previously sent by India regarding the treaty.
Terming the Indian action as a clear breach of international norms, the spokesperson stated that the Indus Waters Treaty is not only binding on both nations but also a recognized international agreement that must be upheld in letter and spirit.
“There is no provision within the treaty that allows for its suspension. Any such attempt is legally baseless and completely unacceptable,” the spokesperson asserted.
