LAHORE: The Lahore District Court has sentenced an Indian national to 20 years in prison on charges of terrorism. Furthermore, the convict, identified as Usman, son of Abdul Rehman, is to be a citizen of India who also possesses Afghan nationality.
In this sense, there are several security sources that have mentioned that Usman had been under surveillance for suspected links with terrorist organizations operating in the region. So far, the authorities revealed that Usman had been engaged in efforts to provide logistical support and intelligence to anti-state groups.
Meanwhile, during court proceedings, the prosecution presented documentary and digital evidence, which was reviewed in detail before the judgment was announced. The court found Usman guilty of terrorism-related offenses and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment.
In this regard, the arrest at the Chaman border, a crossing point that connects Pakistan with Afghanistan once again mentioned the region’s sensitivity in terms of infiltration and cross-border movements.

The sentencing of Usman is seen as a warning to hostile elements attempting to exploit Pakistan’s borders for unlawful activities.
