Indian proxies will be defeated in Balochistan: Bakhat Kakar

Kakar: Govt set to operationalize 164 inactive BHUs across Balochistan on August 14

QUETTA: Balochistan Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar on Wednesday accused India of waging a proxy war in the province, asserting that Pakistani security forces and the local population stand united to defeat what he termed “enemy designs.”

Speaking during a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Kakar expressed grave concern over recent terrorist incidents, particularly those on January 31 which targeted both civilians and security forces. He alleged that the attacks were orchestrated by “Fitna-ul-Hindustan”—a term used by Pakistani officials to refer to Indian-sponsored militancy—in an attempt to sabotage the province’s hard-won peace.

“India is imposing war in Balochistan through its proxies,” Kakar said. “But the intentions of the enemy have always been thwarted by our forces, and they will be defeated again.”

The minister referenced past events, including what he described as India’s “humiliating defeat” on May 10, without elaborating on specifics. He emphasized that the people of Balochistan stand shoulder-to-shoulder with security forces, rejecting any attempt to destabilize the region. “Complete peace will soon be established,” he assured the House.

His remarks came during a discussion on a resolution condemning terrorism. Kakar strongly condemned the January 31 attacks and paid tribute to the victims.

Security operations have been intensified across several districts of Balochistan in recent weeks as authorities seek to dismantle militant networks. Kakar’s address reaffirmed the government’s position that foreign interference remains a primary challenge to provincial stability.
