ٰISLAMABAD: Despite global embarrassment, Indian media has continued spreading fake news and making baseless claims.
Recently, it falsely reported that Pakistan sent four letters to New Delhi requesting a review of the decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty, two months after the Pahalgam incident.
However, sources in Pakistan’s Ministry of Water confirmed to Geo News that this is entirely fake news aimed at distracting the Indian public from the humiliating defeat in the recent conflict.
According to officials, Pakistan only responded to two letters from India and did not initiate any communication.
They emphasized that the Indus Waters Treaty cannot be unilaterally suspended and India is bound to follow it.
It is worth noting that after failing to face the Pakistan Army on the battlefield, the Modi government relied on propaganda and fake news to mislead its own people, including false reports of attacks on Pakistani cities. These actions drew global mockery.
The Washington Post criticized Indian media for spreading misleading and false information during recent tensions with Pakistan.

It highlighted that on May 9, Indian media widely reported a false story about a military coup and the arrest of Pakistan’s Army Chief—news that originated from a WhatsApp message shared by a journalist from an Indian state-run outlet and quickly turned into breaking news despite being completely fabricated.
