NEWYORK: Pakistan’s representative to the United Nations Security Council, Saima Saleem has said that India is sponsoring terrorism and target killings not only in Pakistan but all over the world.
While responding to India’s aggressive statement during the open debate of the United Nations Security Council, she said that it is necessary to speak in response to the remarks of the Indian delegation, adding that India has once again resorted to misleading information and deviation.
During her response, she reminded the Indian representative that this open debate is on the protection of civilians in armed conflicts and no misleading information and denial can change the reality.
Saima Saleem highlighted that India kills civilians in Illegally Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) without mercy, deliberately targets civilians by launching unprovoked attacks on Pakistan. India sponsoring terrorism and targeted killings not only in Pakistan but also countries like America and Canada, undeniable evidence exists of its involvement.
Regarding India decision of suspending Indus Water Treaty, she said water is life, not a weapon, India has tried to stop the flow of rivers which are a symbol of life for the 240 million people.
Following the Pahalgam incident, Pakistan and the international community condemned the incident. If India had nothing to hide, it should have agreed to an independent investigation into the incident, she added.
During the debate, Pakistani delegate said that during May 6-10, India committed open aggression against Pakistan, targeting innocent civilians with unprovoked attacks, in which 40 civilians were martyred, including 7 women and 15 children, 121 people were injured, including 10 women and 27 children.
Saima Saleem said that India has no moral justification to lecture others on the protection of civilians, Pakistan’s counter-terrorism efforts and sacrifices are recognized globally.
Informing the participants regarding India’s involvement in sponsoring terrorism in Pakistan, she said that India continues to provide financial and practical support to terrorist groups, including the banned TTP, BLA and Majeed Brigade, whose aim is to kill innocent civilians aiming to destabilize Pakistan.

Saima Saleem said that just two days ago, innocent children were killed and dozens injured in a cowardly attack on a school bus in Khuzdar district of Balochistan. If India is truly committed to the principles of peace, security and good neighborliness, it should stop state terrorism, end the atrocities on the Kashmiri people, and abide by international law, the UN Charter and bilateral agreements.
