ISLAMABAD: Pakistani cricketer Imad Wasim has officially announced his separation from his wife, Sania Ashfaq.
In a statement shared on social media, he said that the decision was made after long consideration due to ongoing differences, adding that several issues had remained unresolved over the past few years.
He requested fans and the general public to respect their privacy, avoid sharing old photos, and refrain from referring to Sania Ashfaq as his wife.
Imad Wasim also warned that legal action would be taken against those spreading negativity or making inappropriate comments about his personal life.
He emphasized that despite the separation, he will continue to be fully present for his children and take complete responsibility for their upbringing.
It is worth noting that Imad Wasim and Sania Ashfaq were married in August 2019 and are parents to three children.
Imad Wasim, known for his economical left-arm spin and handy lower-order batting, represented Pakistan in 55 ODIs and 75 T20Is.
He played a key role in Pakistan’s 2017 Champions Trophy triumph and remained a sought-after player in T20 leagues worldwide, featuring in 413 T20 matches with 380 wickets and 4,327 runs.
Neither Imad nor Sannia has commented further on the matter beyond the initial announcement.
Fans and former teammates have expressed support for the cricketer during this personal challenge.
