A man has been arrested from Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan for being involved in the trade of illegal currency.
The FIA Balochistan Zone launched an operation and arrested a man named Habibullah from Quetta.
According to the sources of the FIA officials, Habibullah was arrested along with the currency of 75 lac Riyals, 2 lac 68 thousand Pakistani rupees and 44 thousand 450 Afghani currency.
The arrested man was involved in the Hawal Hundi and illegal currency exchange. According to the initial reports, the alleged man was carrying out the currency exchange without any license. Mobile phones and evidences regarding illegal currency exchange and Hawala Hundi were also recovered from the arrested person.
According to the FIA officials the arrested person could give no justification about the currency he possessed. Raid are being carried out for the arrestment of the other members of Habibullah’s gang.
It is worth mentioning that being adjacent to the border with Aghanistan and Iran, Balochistan has been a significant venue for the figures who work for the trade of illegal currency.
The currency is smuggled across borders and is exchanged in the local markets. So, the people involved make their profit by exchanging that money that is obtained by some unfair means, into local currency on the rate which is less than the currency market.
This is how a black money is turned into white and the accountability which leads the accountability, transparency and tax collection to a failure.
The concerning departments have to be proactive, vigilant and honest if the aim to root out the illegal currency trade.
