Special security for Quaid’s residency: IGP reviews measures in Ziarat

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, affirmed on Tuesday that the police are diligently working to restore and maintain peace in the Ziarat tourist area and its adjacent regions. He emphasized that special security measures are in place for the protection of the historic Quaid-e-Azam Residency.

ZIARAT : Inspector General of Police (IGP) Balochistan, Muhammad Tahir, affirmed on Tuesday that the police are diligently working to restore and maintain peace in the Ziarat tourist area and its adjacent regions. He emphasized that special security measures are in place for the protection of the historic Quaid-e-Azam Residency.

The IGP made these remarks while addressing a police assembly during a one-day visit to the district. Stating that Ziarat is a peaceful and pleasant tourist destination, Tahir underscored the police’s commitment to ensuring law and order to safeguard the lives and property of citizens and visitors alike.

A key focus of the visit was the welfare of the force. The IGP listened attentively to the problems and concerns raised by police officers and personnel stationed in Ziarat district. He issued necessary on-the-spot instructions for their swift resolution, assuring them that peace in the region would be consolidated by addressing the police’s issues on a “priority basis.”

Highlighting operational readiness, IGP Tahir stated that all available resources are being utilized to enhance police capacity. He later conducted an inspection of the Ziarat police station, where he was given a detailed briefing on the available resources, infrastructure, and security arrangements.

The visit and the IGP’s directives signal a concerted effort to bolster security in the vital tourist region, which holds national significance due to the Quaid-e-Azam Residency. The approach combines a focus on operational efficiency with attention to the logistical and welfare needs of the personnel on the ground.

Meanwhile Former Supreme Court Bar Association president and retired Senator Amanullah Kanrani has launched a scathing critique against the Balochistan government and the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI), accusing them of colluding to postpone local elections in Quetta, a move he described as “tantamount to an excuse being worse than the sin.”

In a strongly-worded statement, Kanrani dismissed the justifications for the delay, citing historical precedent. He recalled that general elections were held in severe cold and snowfall on December 7, 1970, and during the peak heat of Ramadan on July 25, 2018. “The matter is not about weather… but about intentions and public support,” he asserted.
