QUETTA: In a significant public outreach initiative, Inspector General Frontier Corps (IGFC) Balochistan North, Major General Muhammad Atif Mujtaba, conducted a detailed visit to various commercial and public centers in Quetta on Friday.
The senior military officer toured key city areas including Mission Road, Kandahari Bazaar, Liaquat Bazaar, and Zarghun Road, moving through the markets like an ordinary citizen. He engaged directly with shopkeepers, customers, laborers, and local businessmen, listening to their problems and concerns firsthand.
During the interactions, citizens informed Major General Atif Mujtaba about a range of issues affecting their daily lives. These included security concerns, persistent traffic problems, cleanliness issues, and other local civic challenges. The IGFC North assured the public that their problems would be prioritized and resolved immediately in coordination with the district administration.
The unexpected visit was met with widespread appreciation from the local community. Traders and citizens expressed their happiness at seeing a senior officer in their midst, with many taking the opportunity to take selfies and pictures. A local trader remarked, “We never thought the IGFC would come to the market and listen to us directly,” calling the move a welcome step.
Major General Atif Mujtaba emphasized that Frontier Corps Balochistan North is fully committed to the welfare and security of the people. He assured that such public engagement visits would continue in the future, aiming to strengthen the bond of trust between the citizens and state institutions. The initiative was widely seen as a positive effort to bridge the gap between the public and the security forces.
Meanwhile in a seperate move the Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has officially announced its full participation in the upcoming Quetta local government elections, scheduled for December.
The announcement was made by the party’s central spokesperson and former interior minister, Mir Ziaullah Langove. He stated that BAP believes in the principle of devolving power to the grassroots level and is committed to contesting the polls to achieve this goal.
